- Extent - the geographic boundary of a Map, used to quickly re-center on the property. See Extent.
- Feature - any shape (point, line or polygon) drawn on a Map to represent a design element. See Features.
- Layer - the type a Feature belongs to, such as water, soil, structures, solutions, pinpoints, zones, access or stacks.
- Zone - a permaculture concept dividing a property by how often it's visited or managed, from intensively-used areas to wild ones.
- Sector - an arc that maps an external input affecting the property, such as wind, sun, fire risk or pollution. See Sectors.
- Solution - a recognized permaculture technique, pattern or improvement (like a swale or keyline pond) that can be assigned to a Feature.
- Overlay - an additional dataset shown on top of the Map, such as climate, hydrology, soil or terrain. See Overlays.
Plants & Stacks

- Guild - the permaculture term for a mutually-beneficial planting; a Stack is how you build one on LiveStacks.co.
- Food Forest Layer - the vertical position a plant occupies in a guild (canopy, understory, shrub, herb, ground cover, root or vine).
- Hardiness - the USDA climate-zone range in which a plant can survive, used across plant data and Stack compatibility.
